Response of Individual Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes Under Uniaxial Tension"
- Completed literature review of carbon nanotube structure, manufacturing methods, mechanical response, fracture mechanisms, and tensile experimental results.
- Designed and fabricated an apparatus for in-situ TEM tensile fracture of individual multi-wall carbon nanotubes, in Solidworks 2004.
- Implemented control software using LabVIEW RT and NI Vision on PXI hardware.
- Fabricated silicon wafer force sensor assemblies for in-situ TEM tensile holder with the Hitachi HF-2000 TEM, Hitachi S-4700 SEM, Hitachi S-4500 SEM with nanomanipulator stage, and Seiko Instruments SMI-9200 FIB.
- Conducted pick/place/attach experiments to extract individual multi-wall carbon nanotubes from a bulk sample and attach to force sensor.
